
Meet the Bakers
Derek and Leela, the ultimate husband and wife team, moved from the city of San Diego to join the North County community of Escondido in 2020.
Derek has a long history of working in restaurants. He started in the kitchen during his time in the Army, obtained his culinary degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP Culinary). He has a been everything from the small town donut expert, to working 5 Star/5 Diamond in large scale baking operations.
Leela grew up baking with her mother and grandmother, and has continued baking for friends and family ever since. She finds great peace and a healthy mental state from the practice. She contributes a wealth of knowledge from her experience in business operations & finance.
Together, the two approaches and background to baking make for a wicked duo. Derek and Leela have spent most of their 10 years together working at the same jobs and on the same projects, so there is no surprise here!
